About Staff Selection Commission (SSC)

SSC conducts recruitment exams such as CGL, CHSL, MTS, GD Constable and Stenographer. Some recent SSC notifications ask for a live photo taken through the SSC website or app instead of an upload, so check which one your notification wants.

Tips so your photo isn’t rejected

• Use a plain white or light-coloured background.
• Face the camera straight on, with even light and no shadows on your face.
• Keep your head and the top of your shoulders in the frame, with a little space above your head.
• Don’t wear a cap or dark glasses, and don’t use beauty filters.
• Use a recent photo. Many forms reject photos older than 3–6 months.

How to resize a photo or signature for an online form

1. Pick your form from the list. The required size in pixels/cm and KB is filled in automatically. If your form isn’t listed, choose Custom size and type the numbers from the notification.
2. Upload your photo or scanned signature. A phone camera photo works fine.
3. Drag and zoom so your face (or signature) sits nicely in the frame.
4. Download. The tool compresses the image so it lands inside the allowed KB range, and sets the correct DPI.
